CARLOS ALBERTO TORRES, OSCAR LOPEZ RIVERA, AVELINO GONZALEZ CLAUDIO ¡PRESENTE!

On April 4th, 2010, the Puerto Rican Political Prisoners will have completed 30 years in jail for FIGHTING PUERTO RICAN INDPENDENCE!!

Throughout their lives they suffered the Puerto Rican colonial reality and the consequences of their political and community involvement. They were fired from their jobs, kicked out of schools and universities, denied scholarships, threatened, spied on, attacked by the police and the FBI. And when they rose up and fought against these injustices they were branded as terrorists and placed in some of the worst prisons in the U.S.

Every April, ProLibertad organizes a series of events to denounce the arrests of our political prisoners. We use this month as a time to raise awareness around the prisoners and the colonial reality of Puerto Rico.

As we enter this year, Carlos Alberto Torres is the victim of a series of fraudulent charges to impede his chance at parole and Avelino, who has been awaiting a trial for almost two years, has been denied needed medical attention for a neurological condition.
